What is a Dental Emergency?
If you are unsure if you are experiencing a dental emergency, contact our office right away. The following conditions are dental emergencies and should be treated as soon as possible.
- Lost Fillings or Crowns
Try to locate any lost or broken crowns or fillings. Rinse it and do your best to place it back on your tooth. Phone our office as soon as possible to set up an appointment to have it repaired.
- Chipped or Broken Teeth
If you've chipped or broken a tooth, attempt to find the missing piece and bring it to your appointment. It's possible your dentist will be able to reattach it. Whether you found the piece or not, be sure to call our office right away to have it corrected.
- Knocked-Out Teeth
If a tooth gets knocked out, try to find it. If you're successful in finding it, rinse and re-insert it into the tooth socket by biting down gently on the tooth once it's in place. If you cannot replace the tooth in the socket, you can keep it moist by placing it in a glass of milk or holding it in your mouth until you are able to get to our office.
Make sure you come to our office as soon as possible and call ahead if you are able to. Your dentist will have a better chance of saving your tooth the sooner you can be treated after it has been knocked out.
- Severe SwellingÂ
If you have moderate to severe swelling in your face, neck, or mouth areas that are causing difficulties in breathing or swallowing, call our office immediately. Our dentists will examine the swelling and determine the cause and best approach for treatment.
